Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. 11 There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.

Music School

Can music change young people’s lives? The simple answer is YES!

Music is at the heart of our congregation and can give people confidence and increase their happiness and enjoyment. Everyone at our church has the opportunity to join in with the music we perform and we focus heavily on giving our young congregation the chance to learn new musical instruments and to engage in group choir and communal singing.

We focus on teaching music with inspiration from a mixture of gospel, European and West African music styles. This is in keeping with the ethnic mix of the students we teach and it brings aspects of their traditional cultures together with modern UK contemporary and Christian music.

They met weekly for an instrumental workshop with hand drums, percussion and keyboards over a short twelve week period. Even over such a short amount of time the music programme participants showed significant improvements in school/work role performance, depression and mood, negative self-evaluation and anger.

We need guitars, drums, bongos, amplifiers, mixing desks and a PA system.
